Safety should not begin only after something has gone wrong.
WITH. is an attempt to make personal safety infrastructure available before the crisis, resilient during it and useful after it.
South Africa already has many pieces of the safety system.
Emergency services. Private security. GBV support. Smartphones. Watches. Transport platforms. Businesses. Campuses. Families. Community organisations.
The problem is that the pieces are fragmented, people often have to know which piece to use, and many tools begin only after a person can actively ask for help.
We do not believe women should have to become security experts to move through ordinary life.
They should not have to remember which provider covers which road, whether a friend saw a message, whether an app is still running or which system to contact first. Technology should carry more of that burden.
Because safety should not mean being alone.
With your people.
With nearby help.
With the devices you already use.
With professional response where it is available and appropriate.
With a network that remembers enough to continue when one layer fails.
